Coltman Memoriam Appears In JCO
An article celebrating the life and accomplishments of former SWOG Group Chair Dr. Charles A. Coltman, Jr. is now out in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, a publication of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists (ASCO).
Coltman was the president of ASCO in 1988, and the group publishes memorial reviews for all former ASCO presidents in the JCO.
The article was written by current SWOG Cancer Research Network Group Chair Charles D. Blanke, MD; former SWOG Group Statistician John Crowley, PhD; former SWOG Group Chair Laurence H. Baker, DO; and long-time SWOG member Richard Fisher, MD.
Coltman was SWOG's longest-serving group chair, overseeing the group from 1981 to 2005. His contributions to SWOG, and the field of cancer research and education, are outlined in detail in the JCO review. Coltman passed away on Nov. 28, 2018. He was 88.
